Chemist Celebrate Earth Day

April 22nd is Earth day, and the theme of the 2017 ACS Chemists Celebrate Earth Day (CCED) is "Chemistry Helps Feed the World". More information can be found at the main CCED Website. Women Chemists Committee (WCC) STEM Outreach Program

The WCC decided last year to actively serve in the community through outreach for STEM awareness and support. The committee connected with the science teacher at Pleasantdale Elementary school in Doraville and decided to volunteer at the school. WCC is serving as a scientific knowledge resource and volunteering during science-related activities. WCC has volunteered at the school over the last year via the Science Fair, STEM Day, and Career Day.

Science Coaches

The Georgia Section of the American Chemical Society is looking for Science Coaches! Coaches donate their time to science teachers who value the experience and expertise of chemistry experts. As districts begin to adopt Next Generation Science Standards in the 2017-2018 school year, teachers can especially benefit from the knowledge of coaches as they implement more hands-on activities and laboratory learning. Participating teachers range from elementary to high school teachers.
